About This Audiobook

Wild Fell is a chilling descent into the decaying grandeur of a century-old summerhouse, perched atop a desolate island. Michael Rowe's prose is as atmospheric as it is eerie, painting vivid images of the house's crumbling opulence and the stormy seas that batter its shores. Gary Dikeos' narration is a standout feature, his measured pace and subtle emphasis on key phrases lending an unsettling, almost whispered urgency to the story. What sets this audiobook apart is its slow burn, a deliberate build-up of tension that keeps you on the edge of your seat, waiting for the inevitable storm to break.

Editor's Review ★★★☆

AudioBook Atlas

As a listener, I found myself drawn into the claustrophobic world of Wild Fell, the house's creaking timbers and whispering winds almost palpable thanks to Dikeos' immersive narration. The story is a masterclass in slow-burn horror, with Rowe expertly ratcheting up the tension until the final, heart-pounding climax. I must admit, I found the pacing a tad slow at times, particularly in the middle section, but this is a minor quibble in an otherwise outstanding audiobook. The production is minimalist, allowing the narration and sound effects to take center stage, which works perfectly for this type of story. If you're a fan of atmospheric, slow-burn horror, Wild Fell is a must-listen.
