About This Audiobook

Mary Chase is the human equivalent of duct tape—indispensable, no-nonsense, and busy holding the world together one disaster at a time. As the de facto ringmaster of Rising Starr Talent Agency, she’s used to wrangling divas, extinguishing scandals, and navigating the messiest of client egos. So when her boss drops a live grenade in her lap—a high-maintenance, self-absorbed heir to a royal fortune who’s just been photographed shirtless in a fountain—Mary assumes it’s another Tuesday. Wrong. Because this client, known in the tabloids as the ‘Wild Prince,’ isn’t just a challenge; he’s a full-blown hurricane of charm, entitlement, and unexpected vulnerability.

This isn’t your typical office romance. Wild Prince is a sharp, glittering satire of privilege and professional burnout, disguised as a rom-com where the real stakes aren’t love triangles but whether Mary will survive the week without committing a felony. Darke’s writing crackles with wit, balancing rapid-fire banter with moments of genuine tenderness, all while skewering the absurdity of celebrity culture. The audiobook’s dual narration—Sebastian York’s velvety baritone for the prince’s infuriating swagger, and Ava Erickson’s razor-sharp wit for Mary’s exasperated commentary—turns every scene into a full-cast performance, making the listener feel like they’re stuck in the middle of an office listening to gossip that’s somehow both hilarious and heartfelt.

AudioBook Atlas

As someone who’s survived more audiobooks with painfully bland narrators than I care to admit, Sebastian York and Ava Erickson here make Wild Prince feel like a gift. York’s take on the Wild Prince is a masterclass in arrogant charm—he makes the character’s entitlement so seductive that you half-sympathize with him by the first chapter, even as he’s mid-rant about his yacht’s Wi-Fi. Erickson, meanwhile, nails Mary’s exhausted but razor-witted inner monologue, her delivery sharp enough to cut glass but warm enough that you root for her even when she’s making terrible decisions. The chemistry between them crackles, especially in scenes where their verbal sparring feels less like bickering and more like two competitive siblings who secretly adore each other. That said, the production isn’t flawless. The sound mixing occasionally favors York’s voice over Erickson’s in quieter moments, which can make it hard to catch some of Mary’s quieter asides. And while the story’s pacing is generally snappy, the first act drags a bit as Darke over-explains the agency’s inner workings—something that’s clear without a 10-minute infodump. But these are minor quibbles in an otherwise delightful listen. Wild Prince isn’t just a rom-com with bite; it’s the audiobook equivalent of a perfectly mixed cocktail—sweet, sharp, and impossible to put down.
