Emily Rankin’s narration is a revelation—measured, rich with restraint, and perfectly matched to Annabelle’s introspective voice. She doesn’t perform so much as inhabit the story, giving Toby a weathered gentleness and Annabelle’s inner turmoil a quiet urgency that simmers beneath every word. The audiobook’s production is clean and immersive, allowing Wolk’s lyrical prose to shine without distraction. I was particularly struck by how Rankin handles the novel’s pivotal moments—like the scene with the fox or the final confrontation in the storm—where pacing tightens just enough to leave you breathless. That said, the deliberate tempo, while appropriate for the mood, may test younger listeners used to faster plots. And though the book’s moral complexity is one of its strengths, it occasionally edges toward didacticism in the final act. Still, these are minor quibbles. As an audiobook, *Wolf Hollow* gains emotional depth through its narration—Toby’s whispered stories feel more intimate, the Pennsylvania woods more alive.
