The opening story, *The Weight of Unseen Hands*, sets the tone with a slow-burn exploration of inherited guilt and cosmic indifference. It’s brilliant, but it demands patience. Sturtevant’s narration shines here, his pacing deliberate, almost funereal, as if he’s reciting a eulogy for sanity itself. That said, the collection isn’t without flaws. A few stories (*Looking Glass*, I’m side-eyeing you) lean too hard into abstract surrealism, sacrificing emotional punch for atmospheric vagueness. And while Sturtevant’s performance is largely stellar, his cadence can grow monotonous during the anthology’s denser, more philosophical stretches—like listening to a professor lecture on doom while half-asleep. Still, when it *works* (and it often does), the audiobook achieves something rare: horror that feels *true*, in the way a nightmare does upon waking. The standout, *The Last Broadcast of Station K*, is worth the price alone—a chilling, meta-textual descent into media-induced paranoia that Sturtevant delivers with eerie precision.
