Editorial Policy

This page explains how AudioBook Atlas produces its content: what's data, what's editorial, what's AI-assisted, and how we handle mistakes.

How Our Rankings Work

Our "Best X Audiobooks" guides are built in two stages. First, data: we periodically scan Audible's public catalog and record real listener rating counts and average scores for every book we track. Only books with substantial verified listener bases qualify for ranking consideration. Second, curation: our editorial team selects and orders the final list, weighting narration quality, entry-point friendliness (we prefer book one of a series), and variety. We do not accept payment for placement, and affiliate commissions are identical regardless of which book you choose — so we have no incentive to rank anything above where it belongs.

Rating Data

Rating counts and averages shown on this site are captured from Audible's public catalog and time-stamped internally (current figures: July 2026). They will drift from live values between refreshes. Where we can't verify a book's listener count, we show its average rating only — never an estimated or inferred count.

AI Assistance

We use AI tools to help draft parts of our individual book pages: plot summaries, review drafts, and topical tags. This assistance is disclosed on the pages where it applies. Our genre guides, rankings, ranking commentary, and policy pages are written and curated by our editorial team. AI is never used to generate rating figures, and AI-drafted text never determines what we recommend.

Corrections

If we get something wrong — a narrator credit, a runtime, a factual claim about a book — we fix it as soon as we're aware. Report errors via the contact page.

Affiliate Relationships

We earn commissions from Audible and Amazon when readers make purchases through our links, at no cost to the reader. This funds the site. It does not influence editorial decisions, and we link to books we recommend whether or not a link earns anything.
