I was immediately drawn into 'A Planet of Blood and Ice' by its unique premise and Emily Woo Zeller's captivating narration. She expertly captures the desperation and resilience of the teen characters, making their struggles on the icy moon of Jerem feel viscerally real. Hartley's pacing is masterful, building tension and suspense as the teens grapple with both the harsh environment and their own interpersonal conflicts. The story's exploration of societal themes like conformity and rebellion is thought-provoking, and the unexpected twists kept me on the edge of my seat. However, some of the teen dialogue occasionally felt a bit too on-the-nose, momentarily breaking the otherwise immersive atmosphere. Overall, this is a standout listen for fans of survival-driven YA sci-fi.
