About This Audiobook

Meet Marnie Moonshadow, a witch who just wants to tend to her magical plants and avoid the limelight—until the universe decides she’s the key to averting an interstellar catastrophe. In *A Wreck of Witches*, Nia Quinn crafts a snarky, fast-paced urban fantasy that packs as much sass as it does spellwork. Marnie’s a plus-size witch navigating a world of curses, coven politics, and cursed space invaders, all while trying to keep her nursery (and sanity) intact. The humor is sharp, the stakes are sky-high, and the magic system feels like it’s been sprinkled with stardust and lemon zest. If you crave a protagonist who’s equal parts flawed and fabulous, this might be your next obsession. The world-building is rich but never overwhelming, and the pacing keeps the witty banter from ever feeling like filler. Quinn’s take on witchcraft is fresh, blending classic fantasy tropes with modern irreverence, making it a standout in an already crowded genre. Amy Hall’s narration is the cherry on top—her delivery is warm, playful, and perfectly pitched to match Marnie’s dry humor and chaotic energy. Whether you’re a fantasy veteran or a newcomer to the genre, this audiobook is a delightfully chaotic ride worth taking.

Editor's Review ★★★★☆

AudioBook Atlas

I devoured *A Wreck of Witches* in three sittings, and I’m still not over how much I loved it. Amy Hall’s narration is nothing short of stellar—her voice captures Marnie’s sarcastic, self-deprecating charm without ever feeling like she’s hamming it up. The way she handles the dialogue, especially the rapid-fire exchanges between Marnie and her snarky familiar, had me laughing out loud in my car (much to the chagrin of my fellow commuters). The production quality is top-notch, with no distracting background noise or abrupt cuts, which made for a seamless listening experience. The story itself is a delightful mix of humor, action, and heart. Marnie is the kind of protagonist you root for immediately—flawed, funny, and fiercely independent, even when the universe is actively trying to destroy her. The world Quinn builds is vibrant and immersive, with magic that feels tactile and real, from the glowing plants in Marnie’s nursery to the eerie, otherworldly threats lurking in the shadows. That said, I did find the middle act dragged slightly as the stakes ramped up, and the resolution wrapped up a bit too neatly for my taste. But these are minor quibbles in an otherwise brilliant audiobook. If you’re looking for a fantasy that’s as funny as it is heartfelt, with a protagonist you’ll wish you could hang out with, this is the audiobook for you. Hall’s performance elevates it to another level, making it a must-listen for fans of urban fantasy and snarky witches alike.
