Adrift Amongst the Stars

I was immediately drawn into the claustrophobic, desperate world of the Mary May. Stevens' writing is lean and muscular, wasting no time on unnecessary exposition. Instead, we're thrown straight into the action, and it's a wild ride. James' narration is a perfect match for this intense, fast-paced story. His gruff, world-weary voice lends an authenticity to our protagonist that's incredibly engaging. The pacing is relentless, but there are moments of quiet reflection that add depth to the story. My only critique is that some of the alien species could have been more fully realized, but that's a minor quibble in an otherwise outstanding listen. The production is top-notch, with sound effects that really bring the story to life. If you're looking for a gripping, old-school adventure in the vein of Alien or The Martian, look no further.
