Aftermath

As I pressed play on Aftermath, I was immediately struck by Róisín O'Neill's narration. Her voice is like a warm, comforting blanket, a stark contrast to the chilling tale she's telling. O'Neill masterfully captures Bláthnaid's voice, her pain, her anger, and her strength, making the listening experience incredibly immersive. The pacing is steady, allowing the story to unfold naturally, with no rush to get to the 'money shot' of the crime itself. Instead, Bláthnaid takes her time to paint a vivid picture of her life before and after the attack, making the impact of the crime all the more devastating. The production is minimalistic, with no background music or sound effects, allowing Bláthnaid's story to take center stage. However, I must admit, the graphic nature of the crime may be too much for some listeners. But for those who can stomach it, Aftermath is a powerful reminder of the strength and resilience of the human spirit. It's not an easy listen, but it's an important one.
