As a listener, I was immediately drawn into Evangeline's world, her voice filled with a mix of defiance and vulnerability that Stella Hunter captures beautifully. Jason Clarke's Levi is equally compelling, his deep, resonant voice perfectly suited to the enigmatic, brooding hero. The pacing is spot-on, maintaining a thrilling tension that kept me on the edge of my seat. Sheridan's writing is evocative and steamy, but it's the unexpected depth of emotion and the complex political intrigue that truly make this audiobook stand out. My only critique is that the villain could have been more nuanced, but that's a small flaw in an otherwise outstanding listen.
