I was hooked from the first line, and 'August Lane' kept me enthralled until the very end. The narration is exceptional, with each performer bringing their unique flair to the characters. Bahni Turpin's powerful delivery captures the strength and vulnerability of our protagonist, while William DeMerritt's smooth voice lends itself perfectly to the charismatic Luke. The pacing is spot on, allowing the story to unfold naturally, and the production is seamless, with clever use of music to enhance the country music theme. My only critique is that I wish we could have delved a little deeper into the historical context of Black women in country music, but overall, 'August Lane' is a fantastic listen that left me wanting more.
