AudioBook Atlas

Weldon's narration is the star of this show. She imbues Everard with a gruff, almost menacing tone at the outset, making his transformation all the more satisfying. Fichter's exploration of Everard's inner turmoil is commendable, but at times, the pacing feels a tad slow, especially in the middle. The production is clean, with no distracting background noise. I particularly enjoyed the way Weldon differentiated between characters, giving each their unique voice. However, I found the ending a bit too neat, losing some of the rawness of the preceding chapters. Overall, Before Beauty is a captivating retelling that will appeal to fans of character-driven stories and unique takes on classic tales.
