Beneath the Sugar Sky

I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical at first - fairy tales and fantasy can be a tricky combination to pull off. But McGuire's writing is like a warm hug on a cold winter day - it's comforting, familiar, and yet somehow still manages to surprise you. The way she weaves together the different story threads is nothing short of magical, and Dockrey's narration brings the whole thing to life in a way that's both captivating and entertaining. One of the things that really stands out about this audiobook is the way it balances tone - it's not afraid to get dark and serious when the situation calls for it, but it's also not afraid to be silly and fun. The pacing is perfect, with a great balance of action, dialogue, and narrative. My only critique would be that some of the supporting characters feel a bit one-dimensional at times - but overall, this is a minor quibble in an otherwise fantastic audiobook.
