I devoured this audiobook in one sitting, Regina C. King's narration drawing me in from the start. Her ability to differentiate characters, from the steely protagonist to the cunning antagonist, is nothing short of impressive. The pacing is tight, each story building to a satisfying climax before moving on to the next. My only critique is that the transitions between stories could be smoother, but this is a minor quibble in an otherwise engaging listen. The expanded barbecue scene is a standout, its humor and tension expertly balanced, making it a highlight of the series.
