About This Audiobook

Detective Michael Kelly doesn’t just walk into danger—he’s swallowed by it. When a body drops in a back-alley dive bar, Kelly is thrust into the crossfire of two rival gangs on the verge of all-out war. The catch? The victim isn’t just any corpse—he’s a low-level player with ties to both sides, which means the body count could skyrocket if Kelly doesn’t untangle the mess before sunrise. Brian Shea’s *Bleeding Blue* isn’t your average crime thriller; it’s a high-stakes chess match where every move risks lives, and loyalty is the most fragile currency of all. The story moves at a breakneck pace, with a plot so tightly wound it feels like you’re reading with one hand on the doorknob, ready to bolt at any second. Shea’s knack for gritty realism and razor-sharp dialogue makes the streets of this unnamed town feel alive—smelling of cheap beer, blood, and the ever-present threat of violence. This isn’t a mystery where the killer hides in plain sight; it’s a pressure cooker where the real mystery is who will survive the night, and who will be left bleeding in the gutter. If you crave thrillers that demand your full attention—and reward it with a story that lingers long after the last page—this is your audiobook.

Editor's Review ★★★★☆

AudioBook Atlas

I started *Bleeding Blue* during a cross-country flight, fully expecting to doze off to the drone of the engines. By the 30-minute mark, I was gripping my headphones so tightly my knuckles turned white. That’s how immersive Corey M. Snow’s narration is. His voice isn’t just a vehicle for the story; it’s a character in its own right. He nails the weary, world-weary cadence of Detective Kelly, making the detective’s frustration and determination feel like your own. Snow also delivers gang members and bystanders with distinct, often chilling authenticity—each voice feels like it’s been pulled straight from a dimly lit bodega or a backroom poker game. The production quality is equally top-notch, with minimal background noise that never distracts from the tension. That said, the pacing occasionally stumbles in the middle third, where a few subplots slow the momentum just enough to feel like a breather when the story should be building toward a crescendo. And while Kelly is a compelling lead, his occasional lapses in judgment (ranging from reckless to outright stupid) strained my suspension of disbelief more than once. Still, these flaws are minor in a thriller this relentless. By the time Kelly’s investigation forces him to choose between justice and survival, you’ll be leaning in so far you’ll forget you’re wearing headphones.
