Cat

I was hooked from the opening scenes of 'Cat', as the narrator's measured tone drew me into the harsh world of Tuba City, Arizona. Gamble's prose is evocative and precise, painting a picture of a community struggling to survive in a landscape that's both beautiful and unforgiving. The story is a slow burn, building tension and unease as it hurtles towards a tragic conclusion. While I appreciated the way the audiobook explored themes of identity, community, and resilience, I did feel that the supporting characters could have been fleshed out more. At times, it felt like they were secondary to the main narrative, which was a shame given the promise they showed. Overall, however, this is a gripping and thought-provoking listen that will stay with you long after the credits roll.
