Catgirls from Outer Space

I went into Catgirls from Outer Space expecting a campy, over-the-top romp through the cosmos, and what I got was so much more. The dual narration by Trepanier and Mayfield is the perfect complement to Skye's offbeat storytelling, with their effortless chemistry bringing the characters to vivid life. One of my favorite aspects of the book is the way Skye subverts our expectations of the 'damsel in distress' trope, turning Vessani S'Kaari into a confident, capable hero who drives the plot forward with her wit and cunning. If I have any quibbles, it's that the pacing can feel a bit uneven at times, with some scenes feeling a tad rushed and others dragging on a bit too long. Additionally, I found it difficult to fully connect with the supporting cast, who feel a bit one-dimensional at times. However, these minor criticisms are more than offset by the sheer energy and excitement of the narrative, which propels the listener forward with its breakneck pace and clever plot twists. Overall, I'd highly recommend Catgirls from Outer Space to anyone looking for a fun, lighthearted space adventure with a healthy dose of humor and heart.
