As a fan of Native American folklore, I was delighted by 'Choctaw Mythology'. Reaves' narration is nothing short of exceptional, his slow, steady pace allowing each word to resonate, much like a traditional storyteller around a campfire. The stories themselves are a fascinating blend of the mystical and the mundane, explaining everything from the origin of the world to the reason behind the Choctaw's unique customs. I particularly enjoyed 'The Rabbit and the Owl', a clever tale that showcases the Choctaw's unique sense of humor. However, I would have liked a bit more context on how these myths influenced Choctaw society. Nevertheless, this is a wonderful introduction to Choctaw culture, perfect for both casual listeners and those eager to learn more about Native American history.
