About This Audiobook

Imagine a world where you can pull objects straight from the pages of books. That's the premise of 'Codex Born', a delightfully quirky fantasy adventure that blends humor, action, and a dash of romance. Our hero, Isaac Vainio, is a libriomancer - a magic user who can reach into books to create anything from a simple pencil to a fully functional machine gun. The catch? He's also a librarian with a penchant for breaking the rules. David DeVries' narration brings Isaac's snarky wit and sarcasm to life, making this audiobook a joy to listen to. What sets 'Codex Born' apart is its unique take on magic, its fast-paced plot, and its lovable, flawed protagonist.

Editor's Review ★★★★

AudioBook Atlas

David DeVries is the perfect narrator for 'Codex Born'. He captures Isaac's voice brilliantly, from his dry wit to his exasperated sighs. The story itself is a wild ride, filled with clever twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat. I particularly loved the way Hines plays with different genres and tropes, from heist movies to romance novels. However, I did find some of the world-building a bit confusing at times, and I wish there had been more exploration of the moral implications of libriomancy. But these are minor quibbles in an otherwise entertaining and original audiobook.
