The production quality is crisp, though I’ll dock it half a point for a few inconsistent volume levels during the more chaotic battle scenes (a minor but noticeable distraction when you’re listening at higher speeds). The story itself is classic Howard: a breakneck blend of heists, betrayals, and monstrous set pieces, but with a tighter focus than some of his sprawling sagas. The standout sequence—a cliffside duel under a storm-wracked sky—showcases Schwarz’s range, his voice dropping to a snarl as the wind howls in the background (a nice atmospheric touch). My one critique? The female characters, while vivid, still feel trapped in Howard’s pulpy limitations—more symbols than people. But if you’re here for sword-and-sorcery with teeth, this delivers.
