Couples Retreat

Harrie Dobby’s narration is the secret weapon of *Couples Retreat*. Her Theo is all velvet-smooth condescension with a hint of roguish charm, while Scarlett’s voice drips with the kind of wit that makes you want to high-five her—or steal her comebacks. Dobby’s pacing is immaculate, too; she sells every sarcastic retort and breathless flirtation with just the right amount of theatrical flair, making the hour-plus sound like a single, unmissable night out. That said, the audiobook does stumble in one spot: the supporting cast, particularly the well-meaning but bumbling retreat leader, sometimes veers too far into caricature, which undercuts the otherwise grounded romance. But that’s a minor quibble in an otherwise delightful performance.
