As a longtime Trek fan, I went into Dark Mirror expecting fun – but what I got was a gripping, thought-provoking ride. John de Lancie’s narration is flawless; he doesn’t just read the story, he commands it. His portrayal of the mirror Picard’s chilling ruthlessness sent shivers down my spine, while his handling of Data’s innocence adds poignant contrast. The story itself is lean and mean, wasting no time plunging the Enterprise into a moral maze where alliances fray and ideals are tested. Duane’s writing shines in moments like Worf’s internal conflict and Troi’s quiet resilience, though some supporting characters feel slightly sidelined due to the brevity. If I nitpick, the ending resolves a tad neatly, but the pacing is otherwise impeccable.
