I was drawn into 'De smukke døde' from the start, thanks to Bauer's deft handling of the narrative and Carstens' smooth narration. The pacing is well-balanced, with a steady build-up of tension that culminates in a chilling conclusion. One area where the book shines is in its exploration of the protagonist's motivations - Eve's obsession with the case is both fascinating and unsettling. My only critique is that some of the supporting characters feel a bit underdeveloped, and the production could have benefited from a more nuanced sound design to enhance the overall atmosphere. Still, this is a compelling listen that fans of crime fiction will devour.
