Defiant Surrender: A Medieval Time Travel Romance

I went into Defiant Surrender expecting a typical time-travel romance, but Tamara Gill's unique take on the genre had me hooked from the start. Rebecca McKernan's narration was a highlight of the audiobook - her ability to switch between Maddie's modern voice and Madeline's medieval one was seamless. I particularly loved how she brought the supporting characters to life, especially the dashing Sir Edward. One of the things that sets Defiant Surrender apart is its nuanced portrayal of women's roles in medieval society. Gill doesn't shy away from exploring the complexities and limitations faced by women during this time period, making the story feel all the more authentic. However, at times the pacing can feel a bit rushed, particularly in the latter half of the audiobook. Additionally, I would have liked to see more development of the supporting characters beyond their surface-level roles. Nevertheless, these minor quibbles didn't detract from my overall enjoyment of the story.
