John Masterson and Cassandra Myles make *Dirty Deeds* feel like eavesdropping on two people who genuinely can’t stand each other—which, for a rom-com, is gold. Masterson’s Emmett is all smirks and terrible decisions, his voice dripping with the kind of arrogance that somehow makes you crave his redemption. Myles counters with Aly’s no-bullshit energy, her narration shifting seamlessly from furious to flirtatious in a way that mirrors the book’s tonal whiplash. The chemistry between them crackles, though the pacing stumbles slightly in the middle act when the plot feels like it’s spinning its wheels. That said, the payoff is worth the detour: Rhys sticks the landing with a finale that’s equal parts hilarious and heartfelt, even if the secondary characters occasionally fade into the background.
