Michael Fox’s narration is the secret weapon of this audiobook. His voice has a smoky, weathered quality that suits the hardened warriors of the Lyliňg Fighting House, but it’s his ability to shift seamlessly between gruff indifference and aching tenderness that truly sells this story. The contrast between his performance of the protagonist’s disciplined exterior and their unraveling internal monologue is masterful. That said, there were moments where the pacing dragged slightly during the more introspective scenes—Fox’s strength is in the action and dialogue, but some of the quieter emotional beats could’ve used a bit more breath to let them land.
