Their back-and-forth in Chapter 7’s ‘interview gone wrong’ scene is audiobook gold, the kind of pacing that makes you forget you’re listening and not eavesdropping. That said, the mystery subplot occasionally feels like a MacGuffin—interesting enough to keep the story moving, but not as fleshed out as the romantic tension. And while the gothic atmosphere is fun, the ending’s resolution for the mansion’s secrets leans a bit too neat. Still, the production quality is impeccable: subtle sound effects (a distant door slam, a crackling fireplace) enhance the setting without overpowering, and the dual narration never jars, even in shared scenes.
