I listened to *Opening Night Knives* in one sitting, and I’m still shaking from the tension. The Virtual Voice narration is eerily perfect—its neutral, synthetic tone somehow amplifies the chills, especially during Bobbie’s late-night investigations where the apartment’s hum feels louder than her heartbeat. Murray’s world feels lived-in: the grit of Times Square, the claustrophobia of a theater’s catwalks, the way a standing ovation can turn into a death sentence. The mystery is clever, but it’s the character dynamics that stick. The diva starlet with secrets, the washed-up director with a grudge, the critic who reviews for revenge—each feels like a real New Yorker, flaws and all. My only gripe? The final act rushes just a touch, leaving a couple of loose ends that feel unresolved. Still, the payoff is worth it. If you crave a thriller that’s as stylish as it is sinister, this is your night at the theater.
