I was immediately drawn into 'Empire's Edge' by the richly drawn world of ancient Rome and the complex moral dilemmas Faustus faces. Kingston's narration is a real treat, his ability to capture the nuances of Faustus' character making the story all the more engaging. The pacing is excellent, balancing action-packed battle scenes with more introspective moments, giving the listener a chance to truly digest the weight of Faustus' decisions. My only critique is that some of the supporting characters could have been more fully fleshed out, but this is a minor quibble in an otherwise outstanding audiobook. The production quality is top-notch, with sound effects used sparingly but effectively to enhance the listening experience.
