I went into *First Down* expecting another glossy, player-of-the-week fling, so imagine my surprise when Quinn turned this into a full-contact romance. Ramona Radcliff and Curt Bonnem’s narration is the secret weapon here—Radcliff’s voice has this effortless rasp that sells Dallas’s cocky swagger, while Bonnem’s gruff delivery nails the team’s dynamic, from the coach’s exasperated barking to the rookies’ nervous stammers. The production leans into the audio format with tight editing that keeps the momentum rolling; even the steamy scenes feel organic, not like an afterthought. My only gripe? The side characters sometimes blur together, especially Dallas’s teammates, who blur into one big ‘guy who likes beer and women’ stereotype. Still, the core duo’s back-and-forth crackles with enough tension to make up for it. If you’ve ever rolled your eyes at a jock hero’s redemption arc, Quinn will make you care anyway—right down to the final play.
