Fly Trap

I went into *Fly Trap* expecting a standard cyberpunk adventure, but Anthony’s story flips the script in ways that are both exhilarating and deeply unsettling. Shannon Condon’s performance is the glue that holds this audiobook together, nailing the tonal whiplash between Mona’s robotic detachment and the raw vulnerability of her new human form. Her delivery of the lamb’s eerie, prophetic bleats was especially chilling—it’s not every day an audiobook makes you jump at a farm animal’s voice. The production quality is top-tier, with seamless transitions between Mona’s internal monologues and the colony’s harsh outside world. That said, a few pacing hiccups near the midpoint dragged down what should’ve been a tighter, more relentless narrative. The lamb’s role, while intriguing, felt underdeveloped, leaving me wanting more from its supposed precognitive powers. Still, Anthony’s ability to weave existential dread into a survival story is masterful, and Condon’s narration elevates it to something truly memorable. If you’re into sci-fi that challenges your perception of identity and free will, this one’s worth a listen—but be prepared for a story that’s as frustrating as it is fascinating.
