When he snaps at June to ‘stop talking’ in that tone, you *feel* the weight of his past. Heather Firth’s June, though, is the revelation—she avoids the trap of making the character sound naive, instead giving her a steely undercurrent that makes their dynamic crackle. The production shines in the quiet moments: the way breath catches, the pauses loaded with things unsaid. That said, the pacing isn’t perfect. The middle act drags slightly as the survival logistics (fire-starting, wound-care) start to repeat, and I wished Warren had leaned harder into the psychological tension during those stretches. The sex scenes, while steamy, occasionally feel like they’re checking a box rather than deepening the emotional stakes—though the narration sells them with a rawness that keeps them from feeling gratuitous. And while the ending ties up neatly, the epilogue veers into saccharine territory, a rare misstep in an otherwise gritty story.
