Don Hoeksema’s narration is crisp and professional—no slurred words or distracting vocal ticks—but his delivery often lacks the energy needed to make bond yields or margin calls feel anything but clinical. Flynn’s writing is straightforward, almost to a fault; he defines terms like “pip” and “spread” early on, which is helpful for beginners, but then dives into topics like central bank intervention without enough context to fully grasp their significance. The book’s biggest stumble is its attempt to cover both forex and stocks in under two hours. By the time you’re halfway through, the transitions feel jarring, and the advice for each market starts to blur together. My biggest gripe? The lack of real-world examples. Flynn mentions strategies in passing but rarely walks through a trade from entry to exit, leaving listeners to imagine how these theories apply in practice. The audiobook’s brevity is its main selling point, but it also feels like a missed opportunity—there’s just not enough meat to chew on here. If you’re a complete novice who wants a shallow overview, this might suffice, but anyone serious about trading will need to supplement it with longer, more immersive resources.
