His 3J is phenomenal—cool, precise, with a hint of steel that makes you believe she’s outsmarting everyone in the room. But his Witherman occasionally veers into cartoonish villainy, especially in the later chapters when the stress ratchets up. It’s a minor gripe, though, because Moreland’s strength lies in his ability to make even the driest legal exposition gripping. The production quality is flawless, with clear audio and no distracting edits, which matters in a book where a misplaced decimal point could be a clue. My only real critique? The ending feels slightly rushed. After 12 hours of meticulous buildup, the final confrontation wraps up a tad too neatly, as if Shaiken hit his word count and called it a day. Still, the journey there is so sharp and suspenseful that I’m already eyeing his backlist.
