Full Figured 18

I’ll admit, I side-eyed the *Full Figured* series at first—‘body-positive romance’ can sometimes feel like a marketing checkbox. But *Full Figured 18* won me over with its refusal to be polite. Dani Woodson’s narration is the star here: she delivers sass like a stand-up comic and tenderness like your best friend after two glasses of wine. Her timing turns even clunky dialogue (and there’s some) into gold. Oliver San Juan, meanwhile, avoids the trap of playing the love interests as one-note himbos; his ‘smooth operator’ voice actually *listens* to the heroines, which makes the chemistry believable. The stories themselves are a mixed bag, but the highs are *high*. ‘The Setup’—a tale of a BBW dating coach schooling a clueless (but well-meaning) player—had me cackling at my headphones. Less successful is ‘Office Politics,’ which drowns its promising premise in corporate jargon. Pacing varies wildly: some stories zip by in a flirty blur, while others (looking at you, ‘Second Chances’) overstay their welcome with repetitive internal monologues. The production is clean, though a few abrupt transitions between tales jolt you out of the groove. Still, for every eye-roll moment, there’s a line so sharp or a character so vivid (shoutout to the grandma who roasts her grandson’s girlfriend *while* feeding her pie) that you’ll forgive the stumbles. If you love romance with teeth—and heroines who take up space in every sense—this is your jam.
