Tor Thom’s performance is a masterclass in making grumpy likable—or at least, tolerable. His gruff, gravelly voice carries the weight of a man who’s spent years burying his soft side under layers of sarcasm and stubbornness, and when he finally cracks, it’s like watching a dam break. Savannah Peachwood, meanwhile, nails the duality of Joss Kendall: her fiery determination is balanced by the quiet despair of someone who’s lost everything. The chemistry between the narrators elevates the script, making the bickering feel authentic and the rare moments of tenderness hit even harder. That said, the production stumbles a bit in the first hour—some pacing feels rushed, like the narrator’s trying to outrun the story’s emotional beats. And while the small-town gossip subplot adds flavor, it occasionally distracts from the central romance, which deserves more breathing room. Still, the payoff is worth the stumbles. By the time Joss and Colt’s slow-burn dynamic peaks, I was fully invested, cursing under my breath at their stubbornness and grinning like a fool at their hard-won smiles.
