About This Audiobook

Olivia Wildenstein’s *Ghostboy, Chameleon & the Duke of Graffiti* is a fresh, high-energy romp that blends urban art, secret identities, and middle-school rebellion into something truly original. Cora isn’t just your average goth girl—she’s got a knack for seeing spirits (literally) and a hidden talent for tagging walls with messages only the rebellious can decipher. When Duke Meyer, the school’s golden boy and a budding graffiti artist, stumbles into her world, their collision sparks a friendship fueled by chaos, codes, and a shared love of the underground. The story crackles with wit, heart, and a punk-rock spirit that makes it feel like a YA adventure for the next generation of outsiders. Ryan Bergman’s narration is a standout—his delivery shifts seamlessly between Cora’s brooding intensity and Duke’s charismatic charm, with a rhythmic cadence that mirrors the staccato beats of street art and whispered secrets. The production’s immersive sound design, from echoey subway tunnels to the crisp snaps of spray-paint cans, pulls you right into the action, making this more than just an audiobook—it’s an experience.

Editor's Review ★★★★☆

AudioBook Atlas

I went into *Ghostboy, Chameleon & the Duke of Graffiti* expecting another predictable middle-school friendship story, but Wildenstein served up something far more exciting: a genre-blending adventure that feels like if *Mortal Kombat* and *Pride and Prejudice* had a secret lovechild in a back-alley art studio. Ryan Bergman’s narration is the secret weapon here—his voice work for Duke is all honeyed swagger, while Cora’s lines drip with dry, gothic wit. The pacing is relentless, with one scene after another feeling like a set piece from a graphic novel, right down to the way the dialogue snaps. That said, the middle act drags a bit as the plot gets bogged down in too many subplots (seriously, how many side characters need their own dramatic arcs before the climax?), and the resolution wraps up a tad too neatly for my taste. But these are minor quibbles in a story that’s otherwise brimming with originality and energy. If your kid (or you) loves stories where the underdog wins, where art is rebellion, and where the line between friend and rival is as blurred as a poorly mixed paint pot, this is a must-listen. The ending left me grinning—like I’d just walked past a freshly tagged wall and couldn’t help but smile.
