Glorious Ruins

Listening to 'Glorious Ruins' is like being transported to a Parisian salon, where the air is thick with gossip, perfume, and the hum of history being made. Lagelee's narration is a standout feature, her ability to distinguish between characters so impressive that you'd swear there's a full cast involved. She captures the steely determination of Chanel and the volatile intensity of Sert, making their complex relationship a joy to follow. The pacing is excellent, balancing the slow burn of character development with the explosive drama of the plot. However, some of the secondary characters feel underdeveloped, their motivations left somewhat unclear. Despite this, 'Glorious Ruins' is a compelling listen, a glittering gem of a novel that shines a light on the fascinating, flawed women behind the myth.
