My only quibble is the abrupt endings; some myths fade like a radio signal cutting out, which left me reaching for the rewind button. A third listen proved the format works—these stories are meant to be devoured in one gulp, then retold with your own inflections. If you’ve ever rolled your eyes at dry textbooks or dozed through Percy Jackson’s “light” retellings, Zenobia’s performance and Jackson’s muscular prose might finally wake you up to the real thing.
