It’s *unsettling* in the best way, and Lea Roser meets him beat for beat, her Paige oscillating between breathless hope and the kind of exasperation that had me laughing out loud during my commute. The chemistry between them is electric, but what really sold me was how the narration exposes the rot beneath the banter. When Grayson’s jealousy tips into cruelty, Bachmann doesn’t soften it—he lets the silence after a cutting remark *linger*, and suddenly this isn’t just a will-they-won’t-they; it’s a question of whether Paige should even *want* him to. That said, the middle act drags a touch. Moody leans hard into miscommunication tropes (a *lot* of storming off, a *lot* of dramatic pauses), and while Roser and Bachmann sell the angst, I found myself fast-forwarding through a few repetitive arguments. The production is otherwise flawless—crisp audio, seamless transitions between POVs—but I docked half a star for a subplot involving Paige’s college applications that feels tacked on. Still, the final act delivers a payoff so satisfying, I immediately texted a friend to demand she listen. If you love morally gray love interests who *earn* their redemption (and narrators who make every syllable count), this is your next obsession. Just keep a stress ball handy.
