I went into Her Exception expecting a predictable, feel-good romance, but what I got was a thought-provoking exploration of the complexities of life. B. Love's writing is crisp and engaging, with a keen eye for character development and a deep understanding of the human experience. The pacing is well-balanced, with a narrative that flows effortlessly between moments of tenderness and moments of raw emotion. One of the standout aspects of this audiobook is its ability to tackle heavier themes – like grief, trauma, and the challenges of modern relationships – without ever feeling heavy-handed or preachy. The supporting cast is equally well-developed, with each character bringing their unique perspective to the table. If I were to nitpick, I'd say that Shalom's inner monologue occasionally feels a tad overly introspective, but this is a minor quibble in an otherwise excellent production. Eden Lafon and Tony Roberts deliver a performance that is both nuanced and engaging, bringing the characters to life in a way that will keep you invested until the very end.
