I was hooked from the first chapter, as Josie watches her friend Gretchen being arrested for a murder she can't believe she committed. Kate Handford's narration is spot-on, capturing Josie's grit and emotional depth. The pacing is excellent, with tension building steadily until it reaches a heart-pounding climax. I had a couple of niggles - I thought some supporting characters could have been more fleshed out, and there were a few coincidences that stretched believability. But these minor issues didn't detract from the overall enjoyment. This is a must-listen for fans of complex mysteries and strong female leads.
