I was hooked from the get-go. Gibson's voice, brought to life by Stephen Dexter, is like a shot of whiskey - smooth, strong, and leaves you wanting more. Natalie Duke's narration is the perfect complement, her voice as warm and inviting as the small-town bar Gibson calls home. The pacing is spot-on, with just the right balance of banter, introspection, and steamy scenes. The story takes its time to build, much like the slow burn of a real-life romance, and it's all the more satisfying for it. My only critique? I could've used a bit more of Gibson's backstory to truly understand his reluctance to let love in. But that's a minor quibble in an otherwise excellent listen. Highball Rush is a rom-com that'll leave you laughing, swooning, and reaching for a glass of your favorite bourbon.
