Samantha Cook matches him beat for beat—her Elizabeth is sardonic, guarded, but never cold, and you can *hear* the crack in her armor during quieter moments, especially in scenes with her brother. The chemistry between them is so natural it’s easy to forget you’re listening to a performance. The book’s strength lies in how it treats the past betrayal—not as a vague 'misunderstanding' but as a real, painful rift. That emotional honesty makes the reconciliation matter.
