The premise—a string of stolen SUVs and a near-miss hit on Hot Rod—sounds ridiculous (because it is), but the execution is so tight that you’re too busy laughing to question the logic. Fortune’s voice is the star: a perfect blend of world-weary ex-CIA operative and *I-can’t-believe-I-have-to-deal-with-this* Southern exasperation. The supporting cast—especially the Sinful Ladies Society—steals scenes with dialogue so snappy it feels improvised. Cassandra Campbell’s performance is a masterclass in cozy-mystery narration. She doesn’t just read the lines; she *sells* the sarcasm, the eye rolls, and the occasional moments of genuine tension.
