As someone who has delved into various audiobooks, I found Hope by Lesley Pearse to be a truly immersive experience. Lucy Brownhill's narration is top-notch, effortlessly shifting between accents and emotions that bring each character to life. Her ability to convey the vulnerability of young Hope, the desperation of her mother, and the coldness of the aristocracy is remarkable. What I appreciated most about this audiobook is the way Pearse weaves together the various plotlines, keeping the listener intrigued and invested in the characters' fates. However, the pacing can be slow at times, which may test the patience of some listeners. Nonetheless, the satisfying conclusion and the rich, atmospheric setting make Hope a worthwhile listen for those who enjoy historical fiction with a touch of mystery and heart.
