I went into *All the Lies* expecting a straightforward thriller, but Nicola Sanders delivers something far more unsettling—a story that worms into your brain and refuses to leave. The premise is high-concept, but the execution is what makes it sing. Sanders doesn’t just rely on the "doppelgänger" hook; she weaves in themes of gaslighting, control, and the fragility of identity with a deft hand. The cruise setting is a stroke of genius—it’s a place where you’re supposed to let your guard down, but here, every smile feels like a threat. Lucy Brownhill’s narration is the secret weapon. She captures Amy’s frayed nerves and Liz’s breezy optimism with such precision that you’ll swear you’re overhearing two real people. Her delivery of the story’s darker moments is particularly effective; she doesn’t over-dramatize, letting the tension build organically. That said, the audiobook’s production isn’t flawless. There’s a noticeable dip in sound quality during a few key scenes, and the ending, while satisfying, wraps up a bit too neatly for my taste. Still, these are minor quibbles in an otherwise gripping listen. If you love domestic thrillers that mess with your head, this one’s a must.
