Narration is everything in *Indecent Exposure*, and the duo of JF Harding and K.C. Sheridan nails it. Harding’s Jack is all smoldering frustration and dry wit, his voice dripping with the kind of performative indignation that makes you snort-laugh mid-commute. Sheridan, as the perpetually exasperated Lucy, matches him step for step, her tone oscillating between exasperated eye-rolls and breathless frustration. Their timing is impeccable, especially during the book’s most cringe-inducing yet hilarious scenes—like the infamous poolside confrontation, which sounds even more mortifying in audio. That said, the production stumbles slightly with some abrupt volume shifts during smoother emotional beats, making it feel like the audiobook was mastered for action scenes first. Bailey’s writing thrives on chaos, and the story delivers: Jack’s professional meltdown, Lucy’s messy family drama, and their forced proximity in a tiny apartment create a pressure cooker of tension and humor. The slow-burn romance is well-paced, but the ending leans a little too hard into contrived resolutions—imagine a Hail Mary pass that somehow works, but you’re not entirely convinced it should. Still, the audiobook’s energy and the narrators’ chemistry more than make up for it. If you love rom-coms with bite, messy protagonists, and a side of “how is this legal?” logic, this audiobook is a guilty pleasure worth your time.
