Jeremy Frazier’s narration elevates *Invading the System* from a solid fantasy novel to an audio experience you won’t want to pause. His ability to modulate between exhausted cynicism and desperate hope keeps the emotional stakes high, especially during the protagonist’s lowest moments—when the System’s rules feel less like a game and more like a slow-motion execution. That said, the pacing stumbles in the mid-act, where the resistance’s infighting drags just enough to feel like filler between the more gripping set pieces. Still, the worldbuilding is where this shines, weaving RPG mechanics into a dystopian landscape without ever feeling like it’s lecturing. My one frustration is the lack of clear consequences for major characters early on; the System’s power feels capricious at times, which can undermine immersion if you’re not sold on the stakes. But Frazier sells the audiobook’s core tension so well that even the slower moments carry weight.
