Editor's Review ★★★★☆

AudioBook Atlas

I have to admit, I was initially skeptical about Ishmael's premise – a talking gorilla as a wise mentor? But, oh, how Daniel Quinn's storytelling won me over. The dual narration is pure genius, with Kirby Heyborne's passion and Morgan Freeman's gravity elevating the entire listening experience. I particularly appreciated the way Quinn subtly subverts traditional narrative structures, using a non-linear approach to keep listeners on their toes. Where the book occasionally falters is in its somewhat didactic tone, which, while well-intentioned, can feel a tad too heavy-handed at times. Nevertheless, Ishmael remains a powerful, thought-provoking listen that will stick with you long after the final chapter.
